The Cyber-shot TX5 is Sony's first waterproof camera, but it's a very excellent one. The TX5 is a stylish 'ultra-slim' camera with a large touchscreen LCD.
Unique to Sony's cameras, including the TX5, is the Sweep Panorama feature that allows the capture of panoramas by hand-sweeping. The camera automatically merges the images it captured during a sweep into one long image. We have been a big fan of Sweep Panorama and we decided to use it exclusively to make this photo gallery. It was tricky to sweep the camera underwater, while snorkeling, but we are happy with the few images we made. In the image showing a snorkeler, you can see the side effect of stitching because of water pushing the photographer.
NOTE: For underwater pictures, we prefer shooting using the normal Auto mode and then make color correction later in Photoshop. Most of the time, we just use the Auto button in the Curves dialog.
Viewing Tips
The photo gallery is best viewed when the browser is maximized or in fullscreen mode (on many browsers, fkey F11 switches to and from fullscreen mode). Arrow keys can also be used to navigate forward and backward.
Normally, clicking on a thumbnail will display the photo fitted within the size of the browser. To see the full size of a panorama, right click on the thumbnail and select the Open Link In A New Window command.
