MEKONG DELTA (Vietnam)
November 2010
Taking advantage of the end of the rainy season in south Vietnam, we made a multi-day bicycle trip through a number of provinces along the Mekong River Delta. We brought the Canon PowerShot S95 along to take pictures of the trip and see how it'd perform. Whenever we could, we avoided busy main roads and took small village ones along the rivers and their tributaries. We planed our trip so that we depart from one city in the morning and arrive at another by day's end and pass the night in a hotel. We had great fun pedalling at a slow rate, and making stops to drink fresh coconut and pressed sugarcane juice along the way.
With the S95, we take pictures throughout the trip and often while on the saddle. We manually set the ISO value to 400 and 800 to reduce camera shake while shooting on the bike. In order to capture the tropical feel, we set the color mode to Vivid. Overall, we really enjoyed using the S95 to document our trip, and think it would make a great pocket camera for the serious photographer.
